Benedengalerie – Stadsschouwburg Kortrijk
The gallery has two public intrances, a front intrance and a
side intrance.
The gallery is always physically guarded by a guard seated at a desk.
The desk can - according to the exhibition - be placed anywhere in the gallery.
In the gallery, I placed two balustrades next to each other deviding the gallery
into two spaces,
one to be entered through the front door and the other through the side door.
I placed the desk for the guard somehow in the middle of the space behind the
balustades.
A visitor could choose to take the front door and look over the two balustrades
to the guard or to
go to him using the other entrance (or to jump over the balustrades).
Whenever I visited the gallery, I never saw the guard actually seated at his
desk.
He usually guarded the space from behind the glass service intrance in the back.
